Squad Comparison for India vs New Zealand

India

India has now won its previous 19 ODI series at home with its last such loss coming in 2012-13 against Pakistan. That is a decade of dominance and shows just how difficult it is to be able to get past India in its own conditions. IND vs NZ, India has also won 26 out of the 35 ODI’s it has played against New Zealand at home, losing just 8.

It is safe to say that India is the clear favorite heading into this contest and that is why the odds are a bit on the lower side. There are a couple of questions that India has to answer ahead of this series, though. KL Rahul and Axar Patel, two players that have been very good for India recently in ODI cricket, are not a part of this series. IND vs NZ, The likely replacement would be Ishan Kishan and Washington Sundar but Kishan would have to bat out of his preferred opening position or India has to drop Shubman Gill.

India Playing XI

Rohit Sharma (c), Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan (wk), Hardik Pandya, Washington Sundar, Mohammed Shami, Mohammed Siraj, Kuldeep Yadav, Umran Malik

New Zealand

New Zealand will be without Kane Williamson and Tim Southee for this series as both players have taken a break from cricket. In their absence, Tom Latham will be leading the side. IND vs NZ, New Zealand will miss its senior players especially since Williamson was their highest run-scorer in Pakistan and Tim Southee the highest wicket-taker.

There is a lot of talent and depth in the New Zealand squad, though, and it should not be taken lightly. Finn Allen and Devon Conway will open the batting with Henry Nicholls likely to come in at number three. Allen is ultra-aggressive and will take the game to the Indians. The flat batting tracks could actually favor him a lot more in India and we expect some fireworks from him. IND vs NZ, Devon Conway is also in good form with 153 runs in the series against Pakistan.

New Zealand Playing XI

Finn Allen, Devon Conway, Henry Nicholls, Tom Latham (c) (wk), Daryl Mitchell, Glenn Phillips, Michael Bracewell, Mitchell Santner, Ish Sodhi, Jacob Duffy, Lockie Ferguson

India vs New Zealand Match Prediction

The New Zealand team is dangerous and should not be taken lightly but we think it is going to be hard for it to stop the Indians. IND vs NZ, Virat Kohli is back to his best, the bowling attack has a lot of wicket-taking potential in the middle-overs, and most of the leading players are in great touch. As the strongest team in the world, India favourites in home conditions.
